House hunting...

...has finally proven successful! Though we haven't had the closing yet obviously, the hubby and I are proud owners of a new house in Manassas, Virginia. YAY! We've been here for the last 4 days, searching in earnest at tons of houses we had carefully researched on the internet, all of which turned out to be absolute dumps...until we walked into this one. And it may not be our dream house (it's a bit smaller than we had hoped), but it's a great first home, in a really nice neighborhood, and is just beautiful. Nice wood floors, a huge screened-in deck out back, a good sized fenced yard, and from first glance, the neighbors all appear sane. :) You have no idea some of the places we saw...goodness.

Tomorrow we're off to D.C. to get some culture into our veins (and it's only a half hour away, might as well right??) and then back to New Mexico until the end of June. Then we're heading to VA and I can finally attend some meetings of the D.C. Kidlit book club. SOOO excited!

Hooray! This is so exciting. Congrats on finding a place to land. Here's hoping the puppy loves it as much as you do!

Congrats on finding a house! I moved into mine a couple of years ago, just a small townhouse, but it was such a great feeling to get out of an apartment! Enjoy it!!

congrats on finding a nice house. I can imagine some of the dumps you've seen. Trust me they are everywhere. LOL I'm so glad that you found a nice one.

Manassas is a great place. How was the trip into D.C. What did you check out?

In DC we went to the Library of Congress (of course...), the Holocaust Museum, the Smithsonian to see an exhibit on Children's Book Illustrations, and took some pictures of the White House. Oh yeah and we randomly saw the President. Lol no kidding! He waved to us!
