Some possible changes...I need your input!

So, I'm having a bit of a dilemma and I'd really like as many opinions and thoughts on this as possible, as it will affect you, my lovely readers. Nothing huge, major, or catastrophic, just the possibility of some additions here at A Patchwork of Books.

My content focuses mainly on where my career has led me and where my main interests in reading lie...that being with children's and young adult books. I do read adult fiction, non-fiction, Christian fiction, etc., but I don't spend a lot of time on my reviews and sometimes I just skip the reviews altogether. I've even started straying away from picking up an adult book that interests me, only because I fear it won't interest YOU. You come for a great review (or my simple thoughts, however you want to think of it) of a children's title and that's what I want to give you.

What I want your thoughts on, is whether or not you would like to see more reviews of adult titles or whether you think they belong on a separate blog. I've thought of starting a second blog, but figured maybe you DO want to see more of this genre.

Now, I'm not talking about reducing the amount of children's/YA reviews, simply throwing in more titles from the adult genre as well. Any thoughts you have would be much appreciated!

Well, I read your blog from Google Reader. I know you don't know me well, but I think that you've established a nice blog and name. As such, I'd keep what you've established and just review whatever you want to on it! It's your blog!

My blog has evolved from the beginning to what it is now. I now review Movies, TV, Books and Music. Honestly, I love the diversity that I've grown into. If my readers don't grow with me in that direction, I'm okay with that because they can still come to visit for the book reviews only when those post.

I hope my opinion helps!

It's up to you of course. But I welcome reviews of adult books on this site. We have similar tastes I've found, and I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on everything you read...that you care to review at least! So if that means adult books and some christian books, then I welcome that. :) But of course, you should go with what works best for you!

I agree with both Sheri and Becky ~ it's your blog and it's up to you what you want to review and write about. Personally, I'd love to read reviews on anything you read, including adult books!

I know I review everything I read, regardless of the genre, though there are obviously a few genres that you will see consistently on my blog. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do :-D

Hey you! Definitely review the adult books if you feel them worthy! We both read similar genres, so if you find something worthy, chances are, I'll be adding it to my TBR list!

I agree with everyone else - review what you want! It's your blog (and it's a great one, btw) and whatever you read is therefore relevant to the blog. Plenty of blogs mix kidlit with adult lit and do an awesome job. I'm sure you'd be in that camp too. :)

Ditto to the other comments! It's your blog, do what you want . . . but in case you are interested, I would have absolutely no objection to more adult reviews! In fact, I would love it!

I'd like to see your recommendations on adult books.

I came to your blog because it was distinctly a children's book review blog. I think you should keep that brand - it makes your blog unique and outstanding. I dont think you should dilute your blog and make review of adult books. Maybe as a wannabe children's writer I am biased, but seriously I think you have built such a good brand of a blog that I recommend that you maintain it as it is.

I think you should talk about whatever you want to talk about on your blog. It's yours, after all. I don't think you need to create a separate blog for adult books. I prefer a site that's diverse.

Do both! I do kids, YA and adult all mixed together on my blog and no one complains. It's your blog, make the content what you want it to be. I for one, would welcome adult books. The more reviews, the merrier!

I'd stay away from multiple blogs. I've tried it and it's never worked for me at all. One blog always gets all the attention and the other(s) suffer for it. I find it hard to juggle two (or more) blogs and keep them regularly updated.

I definitely think it'd be great to throw in some adult titles.

I love your blog as I have gleaned many book ideas from you. I think adding some adult books would be fabulous. I am thinking that you do not need to make another blog...more work. You could tag your adult books as "adult" or something similar. Whatever you choose to do, make it something that you *want* to do. :)

Thanks for all the input everyone, I really appreciate it! I'm really so glad to see that most of you are totally in favor of adding some new genres to A Patchwork of Books, and again...I won't be sacrificing children/YA reviews for the sake of adult reads, just throwing more in the mix.

I'll probably, as a couple of you suggested, labeled each post subject line with "(adult review)" for those that really don't care to read any adult reviews.

Thanks again!

I like what you just said in the above post. :)

I think you should just add them in. I read lots of YA as well as adult fiction, and they're all on my blog, with tags to differentiate, if someone wants to avoid one genre and just read about the other... but I think that's all been said here already.

Absolutely you should blog write about books that you want to write about, no matter the age level. However, as a YA librarian, I really favor the blogs that label their reviews so that I can tell the level at a glance. Keep up the great work!

You know, I review everything I read. And though it's mostly YA, I don't think anyone minds when I feature an adult title. Post what you want!
